Jiuqian’s reading plan aims to cultivate good reading habit for students, through offering different book lists for everyone, and, based on age groups, holding reading salons, where they can recommend good books and share their thoughts and feelings. This can broaden the youngsters’ horizon, and boost their ability to comprehend and express thoughts.
Detailed Steps
- Learn the students’ personality and preferences
Every student in Jiuqian family comes from different, small family units, and as a result of the variation in age and environment, they all have different hobbies and interests. Through face-to-face talks with everyone, we get to know their personality and preferences in depth, so that we may design a unique and appropriate book list for every one.
- Design the book list
After surveying the students’ preferences, we decided to classify the books into fictions and non-fictions, and among these two categories, fantasy/sci-fi/adventures/hero/legend are one kind, detective fiction another, and fairy tales/poetry/romance the third. Among non-fictions, encyclopedia/natural science/health are one kind, and war/history/philosophy another. This kind of classification not only covers a wide range of fields, but also fits into st \udent’s interest.
- One Book One Week
In order to keep reading effectiveness without having an impact on student’s normal study life , we decided to let students read one book each week which allowed them to read meticulously .
- Reading Salon
On the reading salon every two weeks, students can present their own ideas, recommend books. During the process of stating the advantages and disadvantages of a book and principal ideas can not only improving application of knowledges, their love for reading, as well as maintain the ability of independent thinking.
After Jiuqian’s reading plan carried out, we hope every student have a open-minded view towards the world, a flexible view towards life and cultivate their independence and ability of fulfilling a task.
